June 28 Fishing Report

Whew the hot weather continues. We have had one of the hottest Junes I can remember. The water temps have been soaring into the upper 80's. With the warm water temps the fishing has been better in the early mornings and late afternoon. The flounder bite has picked up pretty good with good numbers of keepers being found along the ICW structure. We have been landing most fish with live pogies and mud minnows fished on carolina rigs. The bigger fish have been falling for 1/2 oz. white spro jigs tipped with gulp white jerkshads.
We have also been landing some pretty speckled trout along all the creeks and oyster beds behind the barrier islands. Most fish have been falling for live shrimp under a slip corks. We have also been using scented soft plastics on light jigheads.

The Red Drum bite has been pretty consistent with lots of middle to upper slot fish in all the bays and creeks along the Crystal Coast. Most of these fish are agressive and have been falling for all the typical baits.

Spanish and Kings are still biting pretty consistent on all the nearshore live bottoms and reefs. Live pogies on double treble hook rigs have been the best bet. Tons of Amberjacks are also all over the nearshore structures.

June 21 Fishing Report

The weather has been super hot and so has the fishing. The spanish mackerel bite has been nothing short of phenominal. We have been landing big numbers of good size fish on all the nearshore structure. The fish have been aggressive taking live baits on the surface. There have been some nice kings mixed in with the spanish. The big news is the Mahi bite has been pretty stellar with in 10 miles of the beach. We have had some pretty good numbers of mahi bites on live baits early in the morning.
The Redfish bite has been a little slow with the warmer water temps but the full moon tides will push new fish in the inlets. I expect fish to be hungry and taking topwaters readily. The flounder have been pretty consistent with some good keeper size fish around the inlet mouths and the nearshore structure.
The fishing is good so book your charter with us call Capt. Robert Hall at (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

June 14 Fishing Report

What an awesome week of fishing. The puppy drum (redfish) bit so well this week. We had some explosive strikes on topwaters. We also landed fish on spinnerbaits and live baits. Most of the fish were found in the marshes and backwaters of Swansboro. The speckled trout bite was really good this week with a few citation size fish mixed in with 2-3 lb fish. All the trout were caught on live baits. The flounder bite has slowed a bit but we are still finding a few nice keepers each trip. The good news also is the big row spanish have shown up on all the nearshore structure. These fish have been smashing small livebaits on top. The mahi and kings are starting to show up close now as well. The fishing is good so if you are in the Crystal Coast area book your fishing charter with us call Capt. Robert Hall at (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

June 7 Fishing Report

The Red Drum (Redfish) bite has heated back up. We had some really good mornings this week especially around the high tides. We have been finding plenty of upper slot fish in the marshes. Not really finding big schools of fish but schools of 10-50 scattered throughout our area. Most of these fish have been falling for fresh cut menhaden or live shrimp. We have also landed a few on topwaters.
The flounder bite has cooled some but we are still catching a few keepers each trip. Most keeper fish have been staging around structure such as rocks and docks along the ICW. The bait of choice has been live mud minnows or smaller menhaden. We have also landed some nice speckled trout in these areas most fish have been in the 1-4 lb range.
The ocean has been pretty rough lately so I have not been able to get out to fish the ocean but I have heard from bigger boats there are tons of Amberjacks out there. Also there have still been some cobia landed close the the inlets. The big news is the Mahi-Mahi are moving closer with this southerly wind so when the wind calms I expect a good dolphin bite close to the beach. King Mackerel should be inching closer as well. The Spanish mackerel bite has still been pretty good along the beach front. The bigger Spanish should be here to along our near shore structure.
We have some days left for June so if you are in the Emerald Isle, Swansboro, Atlantic Beach, Morehead City area and want to do some exciting inshore/nearshore fishing call Capt. Robert Hall at (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com
