August 2 Fishing Report

Finally some good tides with little wind. The tides have been beautiful lately flooding the marsh and pushing schools of Redfish into the marshes. We have been finding middle to upper slot fish in all the marshes around Swansboro. Most fish are falling for finger mullets under rattle corks and carolina rigs. We have also been doing well with topwater baits and scented softplastics on light jigheads.
The internal Flounder bite continues to be strong with good numbers of keeper size fish up to 5lbs being landed around the structure along the ICW and deeper channels along the inlet mouths. Flounder have been falling for live finger mullets and mud minnows on carolina rigs.
The king and spanish bite has cooled dramatically we have found a few fish but it has been a bit slow after the strong winds we had the last couple of weeks. I expect it to pick back up soon with the calmer weather patterns.
