Well the spring has started off strong. The warming water temps and abundance of baitfish have pushed huge schools of Red Drum (Redfish) into our backwaters and they have been eager to feed. We have been finding schools of fish in all the bays and creeks behind all the barrier islands. The good news is these fish are smashing topwater baits. The action should only improve as we work into the summer. There also has been some good reports of flounder in our area. We have landed a few keepers and throwbacks over the last couple of weeks and I expect the flounder bite to pick up as we start the month of May. Speckled trout have been a little bit tough to find in the Swansboro area. But I have talked to a few folks who have had some good numbers of solid fish in the New River. May will be the month to target trophy class specks in the New and Neuse Rivers. If you are in the Emerald Isle or Crystal Coast area come book your fishing charter with us and enjoy some of the best fishing of the year. Call Capt.
