December Inshore Slam

I rounded up two of my good buddies David and Tommy on Christmas Eve. I convinced them to go on a road trip. Well it turned out to be a pretty good idea. We fished in the Neuse River area and landed a few nice Striped bass ranging from 2-5lbs. We also caught a good number of speckled trout ranging from 1-2 lbs. Mixed in the catch were some nice redfish and flounder. We had a wonderful couple of hours on the water before heading to Grandmas to open gifts. If you are interested in a charter on the Neuse River fishing for Stripers, Speckled trout, Red fish and Flounder, give me a call. The schools of Red fish are still big around the Swansboro and Emerald Isle areas. We are landing these fish on gulp, mirrolures, and spinner baits. The action should last through march, so give me a call to get on some of the world class Redfish on the Crystal Coast. Call Capt. Robert Hall (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

Specks on the fly

I had Dave Roska and his father in law on board for a half day trip Sat. We decided to work some of the backwaters of Bear Creek looking for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Well we had a rough time finding the Redfish today (odd). But we did manage to find a school of specks biting really well. Mr. Dave landed numerous trout on the fly rod. We landed 20-25 trout ranging from 1lb-2.5lbs. Dave was using a grey and white clouser he had tied himself. While we landed most of our trout on Berkley gulps and Betts halo shrimps. The fishing is still pretty good. With all this warm weather we should have good fishing for awhile. A couple of the local captains made some trips to the Cape Lookout Jetties and had some pretty good catches of 2-5lb trout. So take advantage of the mild winter and book a charter call Capt. Robert Hall (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

December Trout

I had Clay Fisher and his son Cade on board for a half day trip. We worked some of the backwaters of Swansboro and Emerald Isle for some speckled trout and redfish. We did pretty good landing 30+ specks. We had a lot of smaller fish but also landed a couple limits of fish ranging from 1.5lbs-3lbs. The fishing is still pretty good locally around Swansboro. If you would like to book a charter for some spectacular action, call Capt. Robert Hall at (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

Puppy Drum (fish of the month)

The fishing has been very good lately. The big schools of reds are here!!!! They are in the marsh and in the surf zone. We have been catching good numbers of red in the backwaters of Swansboro and Emerald. These fish have been falling for spinnerbaits, topwaters, gulp, D.O.A., Mirrolures, and anything else in your box. We have been landing good numbers of trout in the local creeks and rivers. There are still some in the marshes and around the inlets but they seem to be running on the small side. The average morning trout trip has been landing 10-20 specks from 1lb-3lbs. We are using mud minnows for live bait. We have also been doing well with gulp jerkshads and shrimp rigged on 1/16 oz-1/8 oz. jig heads. The other bait that has seemed to be good in the Betts halo shrimp. The months of December and January are some of the best redfish action you can imagine. If you would like to get on some of this hot action, book your charter by calling at Capt. Robert Hall (910)330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

Trout and Reds are on fire (Open Dates for Nov)

The inshore fishing has been great. My charters have been landing good numbers of Specks and Reds. The specks have been running from 1LB-4Lbs. We have been working the local creeks and marshes using gulps and mirrolures! I have been using light jig heads (1/16 oz. - 1/8 oz.).

We have been catching alot of Rat Redfish mixed in with the specks. The bigger Reds seem to be out around the inlets and behind Hammocks Beach and Browns Island. We have also been landing some keeper size flounder along with the Drum and Trout. With the warm weather in the area the fishing should stay good for a while. Here are the dates I have open for the rest of the month: Tue-Fri (27-30) for half day trout and redfish trips. The fishing is good so book your charter now by calling Capt. Robert Hall at (910)-330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

Specks and Reds are biting well

The trout bite has finally turned on . My half day trips are limiting out about every time. The size fish we have been landing rang from 1lb to 5lbs. We have been catching most of the trout in the backwaters of the White Oak river, Queens Creek, and along with the NC 24 creeks. The fish have been falling for gulps, live shrimp, mullets, Mirrolures, and X-raps. I have been mainly working the creeks with my trolling motor and covering alot of water. The best color gulps have been the natural shrimp and the smelt colored jerkshad. Pink TT mirrolures have worked well along with She Dog top water in the 808 color. The action should stay pretty consistent as long as the weather stays in the 60s and 70s. The redfish are biting well on the shoals of the inlets. We are mainly sight casting to the drum with gulps, top waters, and Catch 2000s. The drum are ranging from 20" to 30". If you would like to get in on this hot fishing action, book your Swansboro Charter by calling Capt. Robert Hall at 910-330-6999 or email: hallemincharters@yahoo.com

Fall fishing has been great!

The fishing has been on FIRE!! If you have not been on the water lately, I will catch you up on what has been biting. The Redfish bite has been awesome from the surf zone to the backwaters of Swansboro and Emerald Isle. We have been sightcasting to schools of drum in the hundreds. The best bait has been Topwaters like Mirrolures, Top Dag, and Heddon Zara Spooks. They are also biting spinnerbaits, gulps, and live baits. This is some of the most exciting fishing you can do. The speckled trout bite has been extremely slow with the temps being so hot. We have been catching some specks in the marshes but they have been scattered. We should start to see it pick up in the future as the temps start to drop. The fall flounder bite has been pretty consistent. The local inlets are holding good numbers of fish. The flounder are falling for finger mullets rigged on a Carolina rig. The best bite has been the King Mackerel. The kings have been feeding heavily along the beaches and the near shore reefs and wrecks. They will readily take a live pogey or jig bait. I have been using naked king rigs. The best bait for the 30+ pound fish is a live bluefish. If you would like a great time on the water, book your charter now by calling (910)330-6999 or emailing us at: hallemincharters@yahoo.com.
